I know. I am slacking....

I know. I haven't posted in a long time. I still don't have a computer. I have a camera filled with beautiful pictures of my garden, salsas, soups, meat and pictures of my cat that I just can't get to. The only pictures I have access to are on my phone. I will get more into the swing of things later in the season, I swear it.
In more depressing news, this is a butternut squash that I have been babying and caring for consistently for the last 2 months. I have been so careful to keep it away from slugs and pests. I wanted it to get bigger and bigger and then be roasted and pureed into a beautiful soup. The other day when I went out to check on it and some of our slug infested tomatoes, I saw that something had broken the stem off of the vine. 2 months of coddling and tending all wasted. I am going to place all blame on either a large squirrel (he ate all of our edamame too) or a cat. I am so bummed. It is still kind of green and has no rind. It is the size of 2 softballs. Anyone know if I can still use it?
